2007 Retreat
This year’s retreat was simply fabulous! We had a great time and the company was excellent. The retreat was held at BYU’s Timp Lodge up near Sundance. At about 9:30 a.m., our group gathered at the lodge and started the activities. We started with a wonderful breakfast. Then, we divided into 5 groups of about 4 persons each. The groups were given colored names (blue, orange, purple, red and green) as well as a more descriptive name. The activities were planned to allow the groups to work collaboratively as well as having fun as we worked through them. Nothing stressful! All the time, we were focused on our themes for the year: “Be One.” We also touched every aspect of President Hinckley’s teaching on the different B’s (Be still, be prayerful, be involved, etc.) Activities included taking pictures reflecting being still and being prayerful. Also, the eating of humble pie, designing with “sticky” stones, constructing 2 very intelligent sentences, and enhancing team work in catching water balloons with towels.
Following the morning activities, we had lunch catered from Tucanos. Bryan, current chairman, conducted some business and announced the new chair person for the upcoming year — Elaine Rotz. Congrats, Elaine! During lunch, we handed out prizes as well. Thanks to our many sponsors. Shortly after lunch, we viewed slideshows from pictures taken by the different groups during the morning activities. Many “ooohs and ahhhhs” expressions and laughter were enjoyed during the reviewing of our activites. Finally, we did a drawing for several grand prizes, including a digital camera, a pair of noise cancelling headphones, a Pendleton blanket, a $40 gift certificate to Cabela’s, 2 spa package from Super 8 Motels and a deluxe room from Provo Marriott Hotel.
After the cleaning up, we finished right about 3:30 p.m. as the last one of us left Timp Lodge. The retreat was a great success! Thanks to Jim Wooten and his committee for putting together a wonderful retreat to finish another great year from TEAM Life.
